For an organization that was begun by school administrators in 1863, the California Teachers Association has grown to become one of the strongest advocates for educators in the country – 325,000 members strong, in fact. CTA certificated members include teachers, counselors, school librarians, social workers, psychologists, and nurses who work in 1,000 school districts. Their expertise is called upon in numerous ways, whether it’s to help implement best practices in our schools, or to improve the working conditions of the profession.
Our certificated members also have the opportunity to attend numerous CTA conferences where they can receive information and training on a variety of topics including educational leadership, classroom management, parental involvement and other aspects that contribute to their professional growth. CTA is a place where new teachers and veteran educators can come together to learn from one another – and that’s what makes it a strong, dynamic and inclusive organization.
