SAN JOSE – State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson will discuss a range of important changes occurring within California’s schools and why his re-election in November is vital to their success when he meets with more than 700 educators who are also local chapter presidents of the California Teachers Association Sunday afternoon at the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose.
Beginning this fall, reforms including the Common Core State Standards and the Local Control Funding Formula are expected to have a major impact on what is being taught in California schools and how schools will be funded. As Superintendent of Public Instruction, Mr. Torlakson has been involved with those and other major changes from the beginning to ensure students have the best educational opportunity while attending K-14 public schools.
