BURLINGAME – Dean E. Vogel, president of the 325,000-member California Teachers Association, released this statement regarding today’s Kern County school shooting at Taft High School in Taft, Calif.:
“California’s teachers have serious concerns about the increased number of shootings in our country’s schools. Our thoughts and best wishes for a speedy recovery go out to the student injured in today’s shooting incident at Taft High School. CTA commends the teacher and campus supervisor for their quick response and for putting themselves in harm’s way to protect students. This unfortunate incident further reiterates the need for our communities to come together to ensure we have safe learning environments for all students.”
