Duties and Responsibilities:

Incumbent may perform any combination of the tasks listed below:

  • Researches and assists in the development of guidelines and procedures for implementing standing rules governing State Council and Council Committees.
  • Provides knowledge-based technical support by monitoring and assisting in the completion of scheduled projects as assigned by the manager.
  • Creates database and maintains computer files of chapter governance documents.
  • Prepares complex and informed reports and memoranda for the manager based on a strong information base and knowledge of the department's priorities.
  • Performs a variety of highly sensitive tasks that include the retrieval and dissemination of information concerning members and leaders.
  • Acts as a technical and information resource to the manager while facilitating delivery of the department's programs and services.
  • Creates ballot design and formulates coding using software.
  • Assists in the processing of release time invoices.
  • Provides support to the Elections & Credentials Committee.
  • Provides support to the Governance Documents Review Committee.
  • Performs other appropriate duties as assigned.

Functions Unique to This Position:

  • State Council attendance required (Friday, Saturday and Sunday)
  • Supports the Governance Documents Review Committee (weekends)

Qualifications:

  • BA or BS Degree.
    Or, AA Degree and two (2) years of relevant experience.
    Or, high school diploma/G.E.D. and five (5) years of relevant experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of CTA's organization, its administrative and policy-making bodies, and program delivery structure.
  • Ability to function effectively under pressure and while working on multiple projects and/or organizational goals.
  • Ability to initiate work and follow through on large complex projects.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to analyze work problems and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to write, edit and communicate effectively.
  • Proficient word processing skills with minimum keyboarding speed of 55 wpm.
  • Proficiency in the use of computer technology and the ability to learn and use the Association’s software programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with fellow employees in a complex interdependent departmental structure.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.

This position is in a bargaining unit represented by CAS. Salaries are established by a collective bargaining agreement. Step placement is also determined by the CTA/CAS Agreement.
