CTA presents Policy Briefs on Teacher Quality, School Finance

CTA presented policy briefs on teacher quality and school finance at an EdSource-hosted education forum, “Getting from Facts to Policy,” in Sacramento in October 2007.

As a follow-up to the Stanford Education Studies that were released the previous March, more than 40 organizations submitted policy briefs at the forum that will generate recommendations on how to help California public schools.

Among CTA’s recommendations: Protecting Prop. 98, and treating it like a floor rather than a ceiling; expanding the Quality Education Investment Act to all Decile 1 and 2 schools; providing professional development that is teacher-led and meets the needs of local schools; and providing time in the school day for teachers to collaborate with colleagues.
