CTA offers a number of awards to recognize teachers and members of the community who promote public education. Efforts that might garner such awards would be effective communications by and for local chapters, excellence in public education media coverage, and efforts to promote the development of programs for the advancement and protection of human and civil rights within the Association.

CTA Communications Awards

The Communications Awards Program is designed to encourage CTA chapters, service centers and UniServs to communicate with their members as well as to recognize and honor those who are communicating regularly and effectively.

NEA Education Support Professional of the Year Award

The award is presented to a member of the NEA who demonstrates outstanding accomplishments and reflects the contributions of ESP to public education. The award is presented jointly by the National Education Association and the Gardner Rich Foundation of Chicago, Illinois.

CTA Human Rights Awards

A variety of Human Rights Awards are given annually to CTA members, chapters and service center councils to promote the development of programs for the advancement and protection of human and civil rights within the Association.

CTA State Gold Awards

The CTA State Gold Awards are given to recognize individuals or organizations whose leadership, acts, and support have indicated they are true friends of public education, educators, or students.

John Swett Award for Media Excellence

Named after the founder of CTA and the state's fourth superintendent of public instruction, the John Swett Awards for Media Excellence are CTA’s highest honor for media professionals, and recognize outstanding coverage of education.

Joyce Fadem Chapter-in-Politics Awards

As a tribute to the late Joyce Fadem, director of CTA’s Governmental Relations, the Joyce Fadem Chaper-in-Politics recognizes outstanding chapters for their contributions to the education profession through political action.
