Remember me

Women’s Issues Human Rights Award

Pat Sabo | Healdsburg Area Teachers Association

In the course of our lives, we are blessed when we cross paths with a dynamic and inspirational leader. But that is just icing on the cake. For over 30 years women and girls, men and boys have been blessed with her teaching and training in leadership skills, educational programs, women’s history, and the promotion of opportunities to create and maintain a greater voice in policy and decision-making.

Her high level skills in leadership go beyond the classroom and into the association and local communities. She serves on the Sonoma County Democratic Central

Committee, inspiring women to enter politics at all levels. She is a member of CTA State Council where she serves as chair of the Negotiations Committee.

She is the former chair of Redwood Service Center Council and served as a full time release member in the recent successful campaign to pass Prop 30 and defeat Prop 32.

At school, where she serves as the Math Department chair, her students raised funds to build two homes through Habitat for Humanity. Every year, in June, she takes eighth graders to Washington, D.C.!

Who dedicates her professional and personal life to help others? Who inspires and mentors women in all settings? Who shows others the way to take leadership roles in their workplaces, local associations, in counties, regions and in the state? Who has given us the gift of a long line of strong women leaders she’s mentored to get us through for years to come? Who is a charter member of the Strong Women Club?

I am proud and honored to bring you this year’s recipient of the CTA Women’s Issues Human Rights Award - Pat Sabo.

Every child deserves a chance to learn and no child succeeds alone.
