Ten Burbank firefighters who worked with teachers during the special election campaign showed their willingness to continue the coalition by joining CTA Vice President David A. Sanchez and CTA Board member Bonnie Shatun in celebrating Read Across America in district schools. The firefighters not only read to students, but told them about their jobs. At Bret Harte School, firefighter Terry Mencuri donned his protective gear to read a story about a rookie firefighter and then tried the gear on Kamalani Kaku to the delight of her fellow second- and third-graders. |
