CTA believes firmly that healthcare is a basic right and that children must be healthy to learn.
For that reason, the Association worked to pass SB 1005, by Sen. Richard Lara (D-Huntington Park/Long Beach).
The measure, which cleared the Senate Health Committee, will extend the protections of the Affordable Health Care Act to thousands of Californians, regardless of immigration status.
The measure is backed by a long list of labor unions and civil rights organizations.
It now heads to the Senate Appropriations Committee.
