The governor is also considering CTA-supported SB 594 by Sen. Jerry Hill (D-San Mateo). SB 594 prohibits certain nonprofit organizations and their officers from utilizing "public resources" for political activities if the organization receives more than 20 percent of its annual gross revenue from one or more public agencies.
CTA members feel strongly that nothing contained in SB 594 precludes or prohibits nonprofits from engaging in or talking about political campaigns. It simply clarifies that these groups cannot use the public resources for political activities.
Contact Gov. Brown and urge him to sign SB 594.
