The official deadline for legislators to introduce new bills was Feb. 24, and hundreds of new measures are in the legislative pipeline at the state Capitol. Technically, any newly introduced measures must be "in print" for at least 30 days prior to their first hearing.
The first chance for CTA policymakers to review most of the new legislation will be the March 28-29 State Council of Education meeting. CTA's policy committees will review and propose positions on those bills that affect students, educators, schools, and human and civil rights.
