Supt. of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson and Assembly Member Susan Bonilla (D-Concord) today announced that new amendments to the lawmaker’s CTA-backed AB 484 would increase the number of students who will be field testing computer-based student assessments linked to the rigorous Common Core State Standards.
The bill, sponsored by the superintendent, would now suspend virtually all of the antiquated Standardized Testing and Assessment program while field testing is done on the Measurement of Academic Performance and Progress (MAPP), the new assessment method.
AB 484 would use the MAPP as the new assessment standard beginning in 2014-2015.
