A CTA delegation of leaders attended the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute's annual policy conference in Washington, DC on Sept. 11-13, 2011. The group attended presentations and policy panels, including workshops on Creating a Diverse & High Quality Teaching Workforce for the 21st Century; Immigration Reform & the Dream Act; Prevention First for a Healthy Latino Community; and Housing, Wealth Building & Financial Services.
In attendance were CTA Board Members Marty Meeden & Theresa Montano, and leaders Alex Alguiano, Raul Gonzalez, Margie Granado, Sergio Martinez, Sonia Martin-Solis & Caridad Rivera, as well as CTA staff Lori Easterling & Jennifer Baker. The conference ended with a gala which included President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, as well as numerous members of Congress.
