Lake County teacher Larry Allen represents educators in nine Northern California counties on the CTA Board of Directors and was re-elected in 2011 to his third three-year term that expires on June 25, 2014.
A public school teacher for 28 years, Allen represents CTA members in these counties: San Francisco, Marin, Solano, Napa, Sonoma, Lake, Mendocino, Humboldt and Del Norte.
Allen's last assignment was as a continuation high school teacher at Loconoma Valley High School, a one-room school house in rural Middletown, Lake County, where he taught all subjects, 10th through 12th grades. He is now a teacher on special assignment.
Teaching is all in the family for Allen, whose wife, Sue Allen, is a kindergarten teacher. They live in Cobb in Lake County, where he taught elementary school for many years and in 1994 he was named the Coastal Mountain Conference high school wrestling coach of the year.
Allen served on the National Education Association Board of Directors, was a delegate to the CTA State Council, the organization’s top governing body, and served in many roles in the Middletown Teachers Association, including co-president. Email him at lallen@cta.org.
