In 1968, after the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., CTA and Student CTA (SCTA) established a living memorial in the form of a scholarship fund to aide members of ethnic minorities in preparing for teaching-related careers in public education.
The program is designed to assist ALL ethnic minority CTA members and their dependent children pursue degrees or credentials for teaching-related careers in public education. Ethnic minority Student CTA members are also eligible for this award.
We are all acutely aware of the drastic shortage of ethnic minority teachers in California. The CTA Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund is an important component to help recruit more ethnic minority teachers into our profession.
The scholarship fund is supported by voluntary contributions from individuals and chapters. Contributors in any of the following categories receive a certificate in recognition of their donation:
100% Chapter Participation ($1.00 per member)
$250.00 or more donation
$100.00 or more donation
$50.00 or more
$25.00 or more
Contributions should be mailed to:
